Dual Blades of Light

Two legendary one-handed swords carried by Kryor — twin edges, one of mercy and one of judgment. Together they have come to symbolise the kind of restraint mortals have, in every age since, failed to imitate. They drew the wound that humbled the god Malzareth.

The Dual Blades of Light are the legendary twin one-handed swords carried by Kryor, Archangel of Light. Each blade alone would be a relic in any other hand. Together they are the weapon that makes Kryor what he is — and the weapon that, on the day a god was struck, made the impossible possible.

The two are not the same. One is the blade of mercy. One is the blade of judgment. Neither is named in any written record the celestials permit copies of. Their work is read in their use: mercy in the strike that wounds rather than ends, judgment in the strike that ends rather than wounds. Kryor wields them in a balance that has, in every age since, been the thing mortals try and fail to imitate. The mortal swordmasters who have tried two-handed disciplines on the Archangel's pattern do not, when asked, claim to have succeeded.

It was with both blades that Kryor struck Malzareth on the day a mere Archangel landed a blow on a god. He did not aim to kill — he could not have, even at full force. He aimed to wound, to humble, to break a god's certainty that he was untouchable. The Blades did exactly that. They have been carried at his side ever since, in restrained quiet, as the symbol and the instrument of the discipline that the Light demands.
